How to stand against the devil (Part 1)

Too often, as Christians, we do not get the results we ought to  in our stand against the devil,  because we do not know how to confront him, so he gets away with whatever harm he’s done. Before you can “treat” him right, you need to know about him, know how you can confront him and know you weapon of attack. Let us see the right way to confront him.

Have the right Knowledge of God’s Word– “My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge”, God says in Hosea 4:6. If you do not know he has been defeated, as we have seen, then you have at least one reason to allow him dominate you. Not only must you know that he has been eternally defeated by Jesus, you must also know that:

The victory of Jesus has been credited into your account. In Matt 28:18, Jesus said all authority has been given to Him in heaven and on earth and in verse 19, He says: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” That is delegation; He credited that victory to you. Also we know, from Rom. 6:3-4 and Col. 2:12 that we died with Christ were buried with Him and were raised back to life with Him – complete identification with His death, burial and resurrection. In truth, “I have been crucified with Christ”, says Paul in Gal. 2:20 (which statement is true for all of us who have surrendered our live to Christ and exchanged it for a new life – His own nature). Where and how did Christ defeat the devil? By (and in) His death, burial and resurrection. And we identified with Him in all those. So we were with Him, in union with Him, when He defeated the devil, and so we share in that Victory. That victory is ours too, Hallelujah.
